Case Study
Taupia
Launch PR on a Shoestring
Launched Loud.
From Day One to Sky News.
In four months, on a tiny budget, we helped household bills app Taupia go from unknown start-up to a name in the national press. Data-led digital PR landed 34 pieces of coverage with an average DA of 72, including The Metro, Financial News, Country Living, Ideal Home and a live broadcast on Sky News.

The Challenge
New app. No name. No big budget.
Taupia is a free app that helps students, renters and young professionals keep their energy, broadband and mobile bills in one place, track renewal dates and switch when a better deal comes along. The product was ready. The problem was that nobody had heard of it.
It was launching into one of the noisiest markets in the UK, up against comparison sites with years of brand recognition and marketing budgets to match. Taupia needed national visibility, trust and authority for a brand-new website, fast, and on a budget a fraction of the size of its competitors.
The Objectives
Four goals. One launch window.
Get the Name Out There
Land Taupia in the national, consumer and lifestyle titles its audience already reads, from day one of launch.
Build Trust Before the Download
Position the Taupia team as credible voices on household bills, so people trusted the brand before they ever opened the app.
Earn Authority for a New Domain
Win links from high-authority publishers to give a brand-new website a fighting chance in search.
Get People Searching by Name
Create branded search demand, the clearest sign that a launch has cut through the noise.

How We Did It
Strategy & Tactics

A Launch Story Built for the Press
Positioned Taupia as the app that keeps bills in check for the households who feel them most, with a launch angle journalists could run with straight away.
Reactive Expert Commentary
Turned Taupia's spokesperson into a go-to voice on bills, answering journalist requests on energy prices, heating and household costs within hours.
Broadcast-Ready Spokespeople
Prepped the Taupia team for live media, leading to a live broadcast slot on Sky News, the kind of exposure most start-ups pay a fortune for.
Consumer Warnings People Share
Timely warnings on trending money traps, like cheap solar panels sold on TikTok Shop, that gave readers a reason to stop and click.
Seasonal, Cost-Led Stories
Summer heatwaves, heating rule changes and new government schemes, each one reframed around what it actually costs a household.
Homes, Lifestyle and Money Titles
Targeted the places renters and new movers go for advice, from Country Living and Ideal Home to The Metro and Financial News.
Authority That Feeds Search
Every placement built links from high-authority publishers, giving a brand-new domain the trust it needed to climb onto page one for bill and moving-home searches.
